Deletion is a way of removing a file from a computer's file system. Deletion is death to data life forms like sprites, binomes, and viruses.

Files may be deleted one-by-one, or a whole directory tree may be deleted.

Deletion is not always permanent. Sometimes information and even people can be retrieved. When Mainframe crashed and came back on-line, many of its citizens were restored after having been deleted. This is because they were still stored in system directories, they were simply no longer active data. (End Prog)

Most systems have a Deletion Chamber in their Principal Office to execute captured viruses. (What's Love Got To Do With It?)

If the person is not retrievable by any means, they are referred to as Erased.
